Growth in biogas predicted in Germany

About 760 biogas plants will be connected to the German national electricity grid in 2009 - three times the number in 2007 - according to estimates by the German Biogas Association. This is around 100 times more than exist in the UK.

US EPA proposes an increase in renewable fuels

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has proposed a strategy for increasing the supply of renewable fuels in the USA as biofuels are poised to reach 36 billion gallons by 2022 under the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) of 2007.

Biofuels receive US$786.5m from US Recovery Act

US Secretary of Energy, Steven Chu, plans to provide US$786.5 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to accelerate advanced biofuels research and development, and to provide additional funding for commercial-scale biorefinery demonstration projects.
