E.ON offers “digital” solar option for customers

As part of its "Your Energy," concept, E.ON says it is launching a range of digital products to the market this year, allowing customers to manage their use of solar power.

According to E.ON, its SolarCloud will allow Solar power producers to store an unlimited amount of the energy they produce in a virtual electricity account and then draw on it “whenever and however they like”. During an initial phase, E.ON SolarCloud will be introduced on the German market as an expansion to the E.ON Aura solar power storage solution.

EoN says it has plans to expand the concept further, potentially making it possible to recharge electric vehicles using electricity produced by the customer. E.ON also says it is designing solutions to allow customers to sell surplus solar energy directly to neighbors or to share it with friends.
