RES portfolio more than 8 gigawatts

The RES Group's global construction portfolio has exceeded 8 gigawatts (8,000 megawatts), with more than 6000 MW located in North America.

"This is an important milestone for RES Group, and RES Americas has played a pivotal role in our overall construction portfolio," said Dr Ian Mays, CEO of RES Group. "We're pleased to see that RES Americas continues to create economic growth in the US and Canada, bringing clean energy and jobs to the communities in which we have projects."

The combined construction portfolio of RES Americas and RES Canada is more than 6,200 MW of wind projects and more than 100 MW of solar projects in the US and Canada. The companies have also built 534 miles of overhead and transmission lines.

"The North American wind industry has seen significant growth in the last decade and we're pleased to have been an integral part in supporting a low-carbon future, energy independence, economic development and job creation during that time," said Susan Reilly, president and CEO of RES Americas. "We look forward to continuing our efforts to shape public policy for renewable energy in North America."

"Canada's renewable markets have been developing rapidly, and it's exciting to see the changes taking place and the opportunities that are available to grow this important sector of our future economy," said Peter Clibbon, vice president of development for RES Canada. "We are very optimistic about future growth and the engaged role our company will play in the Canadian market."

RES Canada also recently completed Alberta's largest wind farm, the 150 MW Halkirk Wind Project. In May 2013, RES Canada broke ground on the 270 MW South Kent windfarm in Ontario for clients Pattern and Samsung Renewables.

Last month, RES UK was awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category, in recognition of RES' success in growing revenues from Commonwealth and international markets, including Canada.
