The renewable energy funding comes in addition to the Scottish Government's budget, but is part of the UK spending plans, according to the BBC.

The Scottish and UK governments have long been discussing the access to the Fossil Fuel Levy funding, which is a tax put on suppliers of energy derived from fossil fuel sources. The fund currently stands at £206m.

The remaining £103m will be spent on the capitalisation of the £3 billion Green Investment Bank.
