Nordex to install 20 MW of wind in Romania

Nordex has received its two first orders for a total of 20 MW of wind turbines for Romania.

By Kari Williamson

Two undisclosed customers in Romania have each ordered four N100/2500 wind turbines with long-term service agreements.

The wind farms are due to start operation by the end of 2011. Romania is expected to have 3 GW of wind power capacity by the end of 2015.

“Our target is to achieve a significant market share. The first projects are providing us with important experience for this. Being confident of the good prospects of the Romanian renewable energy market, we plan to set up a branch in the coming months,” says CSO Lars Bondo Krogsgaard at Nordex.

Nordex is also focusing on the Polish marked where it has already established a subsidiary, Nordex Polska, which has connected 93 MW of wind to the grid. A further 50 MW will be installed by the end of 2011.

In future the company expects to supply Poland with more than 100 MW of wind power annually.
