Chinese rooftop solar PV could reach 3 GW by 2015

China is expected to set a target of 3 GW rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity by 2015 and 25 GW by 2020 according to media reports.

By Kari Williamson

This would mean that a third of China's solar PV capacity in 2015 would be rooftop solar, and the share could increase to 50% by 2020, Reuters reports.

The country had about 300 MW of rooftop solar PV at the end of 2010.

China's total solar PV targets including ground-mounted systems, are 10 GW by 2015 and 50 GW by 2020.
