As part of the deal, Amonix will provide solar power generation systems and Thermax, which has its headquarters in India, will be the engineering, procurement and construction partner.

The Indian Government has set out a Solar Mission to promote sustainable growth while addressing India’s energy security. The first phase is to commission 1000 MW of grid-connected solar power projects by 2013.

Amonix CPV solar power systems use solar cells originally developed for aerospace applications. The dual-axis tracking systems use durable optics to focus sunlight onto multi-junction solar cells. Amonix claims that its solar systems offer 31% module efficiency and 29% system efficiency, higher than competing solar technologies such as crystalline silicon and thin-film.
