Wind turbine nacelle testing lab in Germany from 2014

A wind turbine nacelle testing facility is planned for 2014 in Bremerhaven, Germany, with backing from Federal and state governments.

By Renewable Energy Focus staff

The Dynamic Nacelle Laboratory (DyNaLab) will be able to test up to 10 MW of drive power and will be used to test wind turbine nacelles in the size range of 2-7.5 MW.

Fraunhofer IWES will be responsible for the planning, construction and operation of the testing facility.

“The nacelle test stand will be another milestone in the professionalisation and industrialisation of the wind energy industry,” says Institute Director Prof Andreas Reuter.

The wind turbine nacelle test stand is being funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), the State of Bremen and the European Fund for Regional Development (EFRD).
