Solar water heating programme in Ottawa

A solar water heating programme has been launched in Ottawa, Canada, by Canadian renewable energy electricity provider, Bullfrog Power, together with Enbridge Gas Distribution, EnerWorks, and the Government of Canada.

At the time of purchase, qualifying homeowners could receive “substantial savings” on the purchase and installation of their own solar water heating systems.

The savings are made possible through the Government of Canada's ecoENERGY for Renewable Heat programme and volume discounts from EnerWorks. Homeowners could also qualify for further rebates and credits through the ecoENERGY Retrofit-Homes programme, provincial rebates and the Home Renovation Tax Credit.

The limited-time offer gives homeowners in the Enbridge Gas Distribution franchise area the opportunity to save up to 50% on their own solar water heating systems. They may also reduce their ongoing water heating energy costs by up to 60% and financing for the installation is available from C$56 dollars a month, according to Bullfrog Power.

The programme will use solar water heating systems manufactured in Ontario by EnerWorks. The integrated systems are composed of three parts: solar panels, an energy pack and a solar storage tank.
