By Micaela Tuckwell

The Golice Windpark will have 19 2 MW wind turbines generating a total of 38 MW.

ACCIONA Energy’s wind project will add to the increasing amount of wind power being installed in Poland. In 2010 the wind power capacity in the country increased by 53% to an accumulated figure of 1107 MW.

As it stands, Poland’s power system is highly dependent on fossil fuel, particularly coal, which contributes to 92% of electricity production and 55% of primary energy. However the Polish Government has set climate change objectives with a target of generating 15% of its electricity demand from renewable by 2020.

The wind farm is expected to be completed this year.
