An additional 959 third-party nominations have been received, identifying individuals and organisations to be considered by the Selection Committee. In all, 69 nations will be represented in the 2011 competition.

The first prize award is US$1.5m, and up to two finalists may be selected by the jurors to win an additional US$350,000 each.
