Polymer solar vehicle demoed at Risø DTU

A vehicle running on polymer solar cells capable of carrying one person has been demonstrated at Risø DTU, Denmark.

The light-weight, tri-wheel vehicle was fitted with ~3 m2 of polymer solar panels providing 17 V and 3 Amp.

The electricity from the polymer solar cells are applied directly to an electrical motor propelling the vehicle – including a 75 kg driver. No battery or storage was used.

Risø DTU aims to demonstrate the benefits of polymer solar cells as they can be produced at a low cost.
