Siader wave energy project gets consent

The Scottish Government has granted consent for the Siadar wave energy project on the Scottish island of Lewis.

npower renewables, a UK-subsidiary of RWE Innogy will be the operator of the planned facility with Wavegen, the Scottish subsidiary of Voith Siemens Hydro Power Generation, the technology partner for the wave power units.

The 4 MW Siadar plant will apply Wavegen’s oscillating water column technology. It could be one of the first projects to operate under the Scottish Government’s proposed multiple Renew-able Obligation Certificates scheme, the revenue support system to promote the development of marine energy generation.
