Nordex UK receives 52.5 MW of wind turbine orders

Nordex will be delivering a total of 21 N90/2500 High-Speed turbines totaling 52.5 MW for the windfarms Inchincoosh (Ireland) and Craigengelt (Scotland).

For Inchincoosh, the project developer SWS Energy has ordered 32.5 MW. The Craigengelt windfarm was acquired by the global energy company GDF SUEZ in autumn 2008 and will see 20 MW of Nordex turbines. Both orders include five-year service agreements.

Inchincoosh windfarm will be built in the County Kerry in the south-west of Ireland, near the town of Kilgarven. The project is an extension of the existing Kilgarven windfarm. The turbines are to be erected at altitudes of 240-400 m in an area with average wind speeds of 8.6 m/s. The annual yield is expected to come to 100 GWh.

Craigengelt is the first windfarm project by GDF SUEZ in Great Britain and Nordex is erecting the turbines on the open upland moor directly adjacent to the Earlsburn windfarm, which is operational with 15 machines of the N80/2500 series. The site is near the city of Stirling, north of Glasgow. Here the wind speed averages 8 m/s and the annual yield is expected to come to 65 GWh.

Nordex expects a capacity factor of more than 35% at the two sites.
