The report projects that sales of materials for both ‘pure’ organic solar cells (OPV) and hybrid organic/inorganic dye-sensitised solar cells (DSC), are expected to reach almost US$600 million by 2016.
According to the report three areas of special opportunity for materials firms are: more efficient organic absorber materials; improved electrode materials; and new layers for OPV cells that enable these cells to leap to greater energy conversion efficiencies.
