Temperature measurements are now planned to be taken in mid to late January after the geothermal well has time to stabilise as drilling work cools existing temperatures.
The Paralana geothermal project site covers more than 500 km2 of ‘hot rock’ geothermal energy potential adjacent to the Mt Painter region in South Australia’s northern Flinders Ranges, about 40 km east of Arkaroola.
The project is on track in its bid to create Australia’s first commercial geothermal energy plant delivering power by 2011, according to Petratherm.
The Paralana geothermal energy project is developed by Petratherm together with the project’s joint venture partners Beach Energy and TRUenergy Geothermal.
