REpower supplies 30.75 MW of wind turbines to E.ON

REpower UK, a wholly owned subsidiary of REpower Systems AG, will develop two wind farms totalling 30.75 MW in County Durham in the North East of England under a contract with E.ON Climate & Renewables.

The sites located at Butterwick Moor and Haswell Moor will consist of 15 of REpower MM82 wind turbines with a rated power of 2.05 MW each.

The first turbine will be installed in July 2010 at the Haswell site where five of the 15 turbines will be located. Both sites will be fully operational by the end of 2010, REpower says.

Per Hornung Pedersen, CEO of REpower, says: “We are happy to announce this second contract with E.ON right after the signature of our joint ‘repowering’ project in September and we are looking forward to further collaboration. The UK is one of the most important markets for REpower and has excellent future and growth prospects.”

Rick Eggleston, Managing Director, REpower UK, adds: “Having just started to work with E.ON in the UK on an upgrading project, we’re delighted to be successful in winning this significant contract to supply wind turbines to two new sites in County Durham. It’s an area we know well having constructed some five different projects there over the years so we are used to the terrain and environment.”

The wind turbines will be made at REpower’s manufacturing base in Husum, Northern Germany.
