GE to supply wind turbines to 845 MW wind farm in Oregon, USA

GE will supply wind turbines worth US$1.4 billion to Caithness Energy for the 845 MW Shepherds Flat wind farm in Oregon, USA.

The 845 MW Shepherds Flat wind farm will see the installation of 338 GE 2.5xl wind turbines in 2011 and 2012.

Caithness Energy estimates that the US$2bn wind farm project will inject US$16 million annually of direct economic benefits into Oregon, and will employ 400 workers during construction and 35 during operation.

In addition to supplying the wind turbines, GE will provide 10 years of operational and maintenance services to the wind farm.

The wind farm will also see the construction of 85 miles of road and 90 miles of power connection to the grid.

GE Energy Financial Services is investing in the wind farm project.
