LDA Design achieves 400MW of consented solar farms

Milestone for LDA Design equates to 115,000 UK homes powered by clean renewable energy.

Planning, environment and design consultant LDA Design has helped its clients to gain planning consent for 400MW of solar farms in the UK, with around a quarter of this is now operational.

“These statistics represent a truly amazing achievement on the part of LDA Design’s team,” said Rob Shaw, director of sustainability and climate change at LDA Design. “They mirror, to some extent, the meteoric growth and success of the solar industry —  an industry which the UK should be immensely proud.”

Notable recent LDA Design successes include:

  • Four Burrows – a 7.2MW solar farm for RES and one of the first solar farms to combine solar with wind
  • Ockendon Landfill – a 37MW solar farm in the Metropolitan Green Belt for REG Solarpower
  • Vine Farm – once built this project for UK Solar Provider will be one of the largest solar farms in the country and arguably the largest greenfield scheme
  • Wick Farm – this 19MW scheme for Hadstone Energy has been accepted into the 2015 Contracts for Difference auction
  • Blaenporth – a 7MW solar farm in West Wales for juwi Renewable Energies
Since 1995, LDA Design has supported developments across the full spectrum of renewable energy technologies, with a team that spans planning, ecology, landscape and visual, heritage, EIA coordination, community engagement, geographical information systems and graphics.
