Gamesa turbine awarded first type certificate under DNV GL’s wind guideline GL2010

Certified G97-2.0 MW turbine is the first to be equipped with Gamesa’s infused blade.

Gamesa has achieved a new product strategy milestone by having its G97-2.0 MW turbine, equipped with an infused glass fibre blade, obtain the first class A type certificate issued by independent certification body DNV GL under its GL2010 guideline.1

Moreover, this official seal marks the culmination of the process of certifying the first Gamesa turbine fitted with a blade of these characteristics: the robust infusion manufacturing method helps to reduce the product’s cost of energy.

The characteristics of the G97-2.0 MW turbine with an infused blade make it the ideal product for the Indian market, where, having obtained type certification, it is already being sold. This turbine is part of Gamesa’s 2.0-2.5 MW platform. Over 17,400 MW of the company’s turbines in this segment have been installed worldwide, while average fleet availability topped 98% in 2013.
