European Photovoltaic Industry Association appoints new CEO

James Watson brings 16 years of experience in policy making and political communications to EPIA.

The Board of Directors of the European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA) recently appointed Dr. James Watson the organisation's new CEO.

Dr Watson most recently served as director of public affairs for Weber Shandwick, an organisation focused on audience engagement and content development across a variety of practices, including: cleantech; technology; business and consumer marketing; crisis communications and issues management; government relations and financial services, among others.

"James is the right person to drive the European energy transition and ensure that photovoltaics play a crucial role in the energy mix, building on the work of a highly motivated and competent team," said Oliver Schäfer, EPIA president.

Dr Watson, who brings 16 years of experience in policy making and political communications, having worked in Brussels, Africa and London, seems to relish his new role. "I am looking forward to putting EPIA firmly on the front foot of shaping the European energy transition in the coming months and years," he said.
