IBC Solar signs exclusive deal with maxx I solar energy in South Africa

From April 2014, maxx | solar energy (Pty) Ltd. will have complete exclusivity as the IBC Solar 'Premium Partner' for the entire South African market for the next three years.

maxx I solar energy brings familiarity with the local market structure, offering a strong network of well-trained installers in South Africa. maxx | solar energy company operates two warehouses in South Africa which will supply local photovoltaic installers with systems and components for small and medium-sized PV installations of up to 50 kilowatt peak (kWp), focussing on the residential sector, such as private households and smaller businesses. maxx | solar energy (Pty) Ltd. will also handle larger PV systems from 50 to 500 kWp for commercial self-consumption in the business and industry sector.

From April 2014, maxx | solar energy will have complete exclusivity as the IBC Solar Premium Partner for the whole South African market for the next three years.

“The South African PV market holds significant potential for growth, particularly when it comes to small and medium-sized roof installations for private households and commercial self-consumption,” said Dieter Ortmann, CEO of the German maxx-solar & energie GmbH & Co. KG and its subsidiary in South Africa. Besides the perfect geographical conditions in South Africa, solar energy self-consumption solutions are highly attractive for companies; as their business depends on a stable electricity grid, these PV systems present a back-up for South Africa’s unstable power supply, Ortmann added.

Trained installer workforce

Another benefit of the partnership is the training maxx I solar provides for its installers. The popular maxx I solar training academy was set up in cooperation with the DGS Solarschool Thuringia and is represented in Bloemfontein, Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban. So far, the maxx-solar academy has trained over 600 installers, engineers and managers. “Thanks to the maxx-solar academy, which we founded in South Africa in 2011, our company is well-known and well-established in the country," Ortmann stated.
