REC has been recognized for its sustainability efforts in both its products and special initiatives. A leader in providing solar energy solutions, REC believes in the importance of being an environmentally friendly company. To this end, it has made conscious efforts to continually reduce energy use and carbon emission in its operational processes.

Øyvind Hasaas, CEO of REC Solar ASA, expressed his gratitude for receiving the honour. "The 2014 IAIR awards are based on input from around the world, testament to REC's consistent position as a global leader on eco-issues and good corporate citizenship," he said. "We are honoured to be the winner and will continue with our sustainability initiatives." 

The IAIR® Global Awards were held in Hong Kong on February 28, 2014. The event with around 500 attendees witnessed top-ranking companies from all over the world win one of these prestigious awards in recognition of their commitment to green initiatives and eco-products. Voters comprised a judging panel and more than 50,000 readers of the independent magazine and research institute.

The next IAIR global and regional awards will be held in New York, London and Dubai, with associated events also planned for several other key locations worldwide. According to IAIR®, it is one of the fastest growing magazines worldwide that covers topics on global economy and sustainability, and the first in this niche area.
