World’s second largest thin-film solar PV farm built in Germany

What is said to be the world’s second largest thin-film solar photovoltaic (PV) farm, Lieberose, is under construction near Cottbus in Brandenburg, Germany.

The 53 MW thin-film solar PV park, for which juwi Solar GmbH is general contractor, covers 162 hectares at the former Soviet Union’s largest military base in Eastern Germany.

Lieberose solar farm could have an annual yield of 53 GWh when fully operational at the end of this year. The thin-film solar PV panels are delivered by First Solar.

The thin-film solar farm represents over €160 million in investment, and is expected to be sold to an investor when completed.
