LM Wind Power, headquartered in Denmark, says it is seeing increased demand in the US market following the extension of the Production Tax Credit late last year.
More jobs in the US
LM Wind Power has doubled its US workforce in less than six months, from 350 in April to a little more than 700 in August.
The company is expecting to employ around 1200 people in the US in 2014.
The additional staff will work at LM Wind Power’s factories in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Little Rock, Arkansas.

With the continued expansion of the workforce, LM Wind Power’s US factories will be among the company’s biggest.
LM operates 14 blade manufacturing plants across the Americas, Europe and Asia. The company also recently confirmed its intention to establish manufacturing of blades in South Africa (see LM Wind Power announces site search for expansion in South Africa).
- Wind energy grew 28% in the USA in 2012, setting a new installation record and confirming its status as a mainstream energy source, according to the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) (US wind grew 28% in 2012: AWEA).
