Renewable Energy Focus journal is a global, broad-focused Journal specifically aimed at publishing the leading research (and insights) in renewable energy technology; systems integration; modeling and analysis; policy; and business innovations. The Journal attracts desk research (subject to full peer review) across all vertical sectors from solar to marine energy (see our Journal Home Page for full details of our Aims & Scope).
In addition to publishing peer reviewed research, we also publish insights into product development further along the Innovation chain; examples of these are case studies, pilots, and leading projects. Renewable Energy Focus also publishes best practice in financial, policy and regulatory affairs as it pertains to renewable energy development.
Depending on the type of content, we publish it either in a Journal Volume; online at Elsevier's repository of Research (ScienceDirect); or online at RenewableEnergyFocus.com.
To access most of our content in the peer reviewed section of the Journal and on ScienceDirect, readers will need to buy a subscription; any content we publish on RenewableEnergyFocus.com is Open Access (free to view for all).
How do I publish in the Journal?
You have two routes available and it is important to understand the distinction between the two:
- Research subject to full peer review by the community: these papers are submitted through Elsevier's automated Submissions system EVISE (see our Journal Home Page for the link);
- Conventional, Business to Business content types; we also accept cost-free, unsolicited contributions if they are useful and provide value to our readers and visitors. Who are our readers?
Broadly, speaking, we provide information for individuals all around the world, interested in the proliferation of renewable energy technology. Some (but not all) of the sectors we appeal to are:
- Renewable Energy Project Developers, Specifiers and Product Buyers;
- The Energy Utilities;
- Those innovating in Technology Research & Development;
- Those investing in renewable energy;
- Governments developing renewable energy policy;
- Companies that build Renewable Energy products and components.
- Companies involved in the process of constructing Renewable Energy projects.
- Those engaged in Research, either corporate or academic.
If you feel your article would be interesting to any of these groups of readers, feel free to pitch or submit it.
What different types of B2B content can I write?
We do publish press releases, but we receive literally hundreds a month, so to have the best chance of getting your release actually published we would recommend you read this excellent blog post.

And finally, will I get paid for my B2B content?
Renewable Energy Focus has a small budget for freelance contributions, but we can’t pay all of our commissioned writers. However, there are plenty of other reasons to write for us:
1. Our magazines have international reach, so you will effectively be positioning yourself as a Thought Leader to our readership;
2. We give all of our writers a 50 word byeline, so if you work for an organisation, the prospect of increasing the brand recognition of your company cost free, through writing for our large readership, should make any effort you put in worthwhile.
3. We quite often take Renewable Energy Focus to the important industry events, potentially giving even more active participants in the renewables industry access to your article.
4. We realise that many of the top industry experts come from the companies developing technology, and therefore having something to sell. If you are writing a technical article for us, we are happy for you to briefly incorporate the name of products, as long as the article is not a sales pitch and provides objective value to our readership.
