Proinso supplies 5MW to PV solar farm in India

PV solar materials supplier Proinso has supplied 5MW to the first PV solar farm on the grid on the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a Union Territory off the coast of Southern India.

Holding an agreement for the worldwide distribution of SMA products, Proinso's delivery of SMA’s Sunny Central SC800 CP XT inverters to the farm in the Andaman capital Port Blair, was made on the company's behalf by its strategic partner for the Indian market, Cirus Solar. “It cements our position in the Indian solar PV market. Since we started operating in India, we've delivered more than 55MW in PV solar materials to different projects,” Proinso said in a statement.

The firm set up an office in Mumbai last year, and says it has strengthened its business strategy in India. “We’re confident in the expansion of our business opportunities in off-the-grid systems in the country.”
Sunny Central SC800 CP XT inverters are developed for use in large PV plants with a homogeneous structure and are characterised by string monitoring, modular design and the ability to feed into the medium-voltage power grid. Installation is also easy, while efficiency rates are high (peak efficiencies are greater than 98% the company claims).

The Indian solar market has huge growth potential - a total of 1.5GW of PV has been installed in India this year as the country moves towards its goal of 20GW by 2020.
