Proton OnSite is a leading supplier of onsite gas generators utilising Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) technology. The Connecticut-based company has developed hydrogen generators for a variety of industries and applications including laboratories, semiconductor manufacturing, utilities, vehicle refuelling, and now energy storage.

Proton OnSite’s development efforts have reduced the number of parts and the amount of precious metals used in the catalyst, helping to decrease production costs by 40% over the past five years. This will enable the company to release an economically viable, large-scale PEM electrolyser in 2014.
The Proton OnSite MW-scale PEM electrolyser will convert excess energy created by renewable sources into hydrogen gas via water electrolysis. The gas is then stored and used as a fuel or for other energy needs, leveraging natural resources and clean production technologies.
Proton OnSite is showcasing its efforts to improve PEM electrolyser technology at the Group Exhibit Hydrogen + Fuel Cells, taking place this week as part of the Hannover Messe industry fair in Germany (Hall 27, Booth C70).
