Wales, Carmarthenshire wind farm given go-ahead

Developer RWE Npower expects the project to power the equivalent of up to 39,700 homes and to support up to 150 jobs during its construction phase.

A proposed 28-turbine wind power development at Brechfa Forest West, Carmarthenshire has been given the go-ahead by the Department of Energy and Climate Change. Brechfa Forest West Wind Farm is centred around the Afon Pib valley, east of Alltwalis.

The woodland is managed by Forestry Commission Wales on behalf of the Welsh Government.

During the development process, RWE npower renewables had engaged specialists to carry out detailed environmental surveys within the Brechfa Forest, finding two areas suitable for the location of turbines - Brechfa Forest West and Brechfa Forest East.

This specific approval concerns the Brechfa Forest West Wind Farm.
