HCATT – managed by High Technology Development Corporation (HTDC) – is working on the project with the US Air Force Advanced Power Technology Office (APTO). The containerised hydrogen PEM fuel cell power system will be deployed at the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, next door to Honolulu, with delivery anticipated for the middle of 2013.

The Hydrogenics fuel cell power plant will provide robust and reliable electricity generation that boosts stationary power flexibility and energy security for the base, formed in 2010 by the combination of the US Air Force Hickam Air Force Base and the US Navy Naval Base Pearl Harbor.

The system will integrate Hydrogenics power systems, power electronic converters, and associated hardware in an outdoor housed container which will be able to supply 100 kW of power output for integration into the base’s power supply.
