Arise Windpower moves forward with acquisition of Solberg wind farm

Swedish firm Arise Windpower AB has successfully concluded a conditional agreement to acquire a fully permitted wind power project in Solberg to the west of Örnsköldsvik.

The wind farm is being sold by Ownpower Projects AB (OPP). The permit allows for 40 wind turbines (and a maximum capacity of 120MW). However, Arise says it initially plans to install just 23 turbines totaling 85MW, to the tune of SEK1.3bn (€153.54mn).

Work will now start on the detailed development plan for the proposed wind farm. “A decision to invest will be made once electricity and certificate prices have recovered somewhat from today’s levels,” says the wind power developer. If it proceeds, construction is schedule to start next summer and is expected to take will take around 14 months with the wind farm coming online in late 2014.
