Under the contract, DP CleanTech is responsible for all elements of the power plant including fuel handling, boiler and turbine, which will be provided on a turnkey (EPC) basis. The primary feedstock will come from local sustainable agricultural rice crop residues – rice husk and rice straw as well as woodchips.

To ensure future fuel flexibility, the advanced technology thermal combustion boiler has been modified by DP CleanTech to handle multiple fuels. These include diverse fuel sources such as sugarcane waste, coco leafwood and woodchips.

The project, which is due for completion in April 2014, is part of a 42MW clean energy initiative to meet growing energy needs in the Philippines, particularly driven by the rapid growth of island tourism in the Panay and Guimaras regions.
