The two contending ports are Leith in Edinburgh, Scotland, and Hartlepool in the North East of England. Gamesa has still not made a decision, and is holding talks with both.
According to Bloomberg, Gamesa's decision could be of importance in terms of where the UK's 'offshore wind centre' will be located. Especially in light of the much talked-about potential split between Scotland and the UK with the Scottish First Minister, Alex Salmond, planning a referendum on Scottish independence in 2014.
