Apple builds 20 MW solar array at North Carolina data centre

Computer giant Apple is building a 20 MW solar array at its Maiden, North Carolina, data centre.

Apple says in a facilities report that it plans to build the solar power installation at 100 acres surrounding the data centre. When completed, it is expected to produce 42 GWh annually.

The facility will also see a 5 MW biogas-powered fuel cell installation that will contribute 40 GWh annually.
