The delay comes following a combination of factors such as the oversupply in the market and falling solar module prices, but also, according to Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, a fear of building the facility ahead of the latest production technologies becoming available.

When Bosch Solar announced its plans to expand in Malaysia last summer, the plan was for the facility to be ready by the end of 2013 with an annual capacity of 640 MWp.
