REpower installs 6M offshore wind turbines in the Netherlands

REpower Systems SE will install two of its 6M offshore wind turbines for RWE Innogy near Eemshaven, the Netherlands.

By Kari Williamson

The 6.15 MW offshore wind turbines will be installed in the 156 MW Westereems wind farm near Eemshaven, directly on the Ems estuary and south of the island of Borkum.

With the REpower wind turbines, the wind farm will have a total installed capacity of 168.3 MW. Completion of the extension is planned for mid 2012.

“The two 6M turbines are an ideal expansion of the existing wind farm Westereems. Furthermore, with operation of the plants we aim at gaining new insights for their employment on the high seas in the project Nordsee Ost”, says Prof. Martin Skiba, Head of Offshore Windenergy at RWE Innogy.

Installation of the wind farm Nordsee Ost, some 30 km North of Helgoland, is to be started in spring 2012, with 48 of REpower's 6M offshore wind turbines.

I constantly search for wind energy, solar energy, and other green alternatives. Just wanted to mention Wind Energy Manufacturing is getting to be big employment business in the great manufacturing state of Michigan. We know they are competitive and know how to rapidly produce quality products. Good on them, good for everybody. http://energyreviewsinfo.com
