Siemens sees US$900m in wind turbine orders for America

Siemens has secured orders for 6 wind turbine projects in North America since July, totalling US$900 million and over 670 MW.

By Kari Williamson

In October Siemens secured an order for a 100 MW wind power project in Puerto Rico, and between July and September, the company received five orders for the supply of wind turbines with a combined capacity of over 570 MW from North America.

"The latest orders from North America show that our customers are continuing to invest in renewables," says Felix Ferlemann, CEO of the Wind Power Division of Siemens Energy.

"Wind power is a business sector with a high growth rate worldwide and creates jobs in the areas of production, installation and service."

Siemens will also be installing 2.3 MW wind turbines for three wind projects with a combined capacity of 312 MW in Brazil in 2012 and 2013.
