EIB lends €53m for biomass boiler at Polish power station

The European Investment Bank (EIB) will lend PLN210 million (€53m) for the construction and operation of a biomass boiler at Jaworzno III Power Plant in Poland.

The biomass boiler will have a capacity of 50 MWe and 45 MWth and will replace one of the existing coal fired boilers.

Last year, the EIB provided co-financing in the area of renewable energy resources of €44.5m for the contraction of a wind farm in Margonin, and €50m for the Green Investment Schemes, enabling Poland to invest the proceeds of the sale of carbon emission credits to Spain and UK in greenhouse gas mitigation activities.
