Lockheed Martin and Starwood Energy: 290 MW CSP plant in Arizona

Lockheed Martin will take part in the designing and building of a 290 MW concentrated solar power (CSP) plant in Arizona, USA, following the signing of a power purchase agreement (PPA) between Starwood Energy Group Global and Arizona Public Service Co.

The CSP project, Starwood Solar I, will be owned by an affiliate of Starwood Energy. Lockheed Martin will serve as the project’s engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor.

The Starwood Solar I CSP plant will be constructed on 1880 acres of land 75 miles of west of Phoenix, and will consist of more than 3000, 100 m parabolic troughs. It is scheduled for completion in 2013, pending regulatory approval.
