PG&E dedicates three Californian solar PV plants

Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) has dedicated three solar photovoltaic (PV) power plants totalling 50 MW in Fresno County, California, USA.

By Kari Williamson

The 15 MW Westside Solar Station joins the 20 MW Stroud Solar Station and the 15 MW Five Points Solar Station, all in Fresno County.

The solar PV facilities are the first phase of a five-year programme to speed up the delivery of more clean energy to PG&E customers.

Under the 500 MW programme, PG&E is building up to 250 MW of utility-owned solar PV projects in its service area. The plan also calls for independent developers to construct up to 250 MW of additional solar PV facilities. Each individual project is less than 20 MW in size.

Cupertino Electric Inc was the primary contractor for the Westside and Stroud Solar Stations, and SOLON Corporation built the Five Points Solar Station.
