UK's Mabey Bridge supplies wind turbine towers to EWT

Mabey Bridge will supply wind turbine towers measuring 40-75 m to the Dutch wind turbine company EWT under a five-year framework agreement.

By Kari Williamson

Alex Smale, UK Director of Mabey Bridge, says: “These are exciting times for us at Mabey Bridge. Following the official opening of our new facility in Chepstow we have now signed our second major framework agreement with EWT. Given EWT’s global profile we are very pleased by this deal and we are looking forward to working with them.

EWT are the kind of high profile global player in the wind business that we are looking to do business with. This framework agreement will dovetail alongside our existing arrangements with our other clients including REpower.”

He adds: “Our deal with EWT confirms our decision to transfer our expertise from bridge building to wind turbine tower manufacturer. It is another important milestone for us.”

The first EWT tower and anchor is currently in production for a 500 kW wind turbine destined for a site in Cornwall.
