DuPont reduces silver content in solar PV

DuPont Microcircuit Materials (MCM) has introduced its Solamet PV51M solar photovoltaic (PV) metallisation paste for solar cell manufacturing, said to reduce the need for silver by up to 15%.

By Kari Williamson

“Enabling our customers to achieve the highest efficiencies and lowest overall costs – in particular by reducing silver content – is a challenge the DuPont team embraces,” says Peter Brenner, Global Marketing Manager, Photovoltaics at DuPont Microcircuit Materials.

Solamet PV51M is said to allow a good printability window, and is co-firable with current Solamet frontside silver pastes for solar PV, including Solamet PV16X and Solamet PV17A, which also features lower material consumption.

The good adhesion window of Solamet PV51M tabbing conductor could lead to reduced laydown and reduce the tab footprint for solar PV cell manufacturers, DuPont says.
