Electrovaya CEO Dr Sankar Das Gupta, says: “This important project marks Electrovaya's second major grid storage contract and is in addition to a 1.5 MWh capacity lithium ion SuperPolymer BESS being deployed by a major US utility.”
Electrovaya's lithium ion battery technology is produced using a non-toxic, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) free process.
The renewable energy storage project is part of a US$7.6 million project supported by the Government of Canada's Clean Energy Fund (CEF) investigating battery storage in renewable energy systems.
Partners include Natural Resources Canada (NRCAN) and Hydro One.
