Tesco ethanol biofuel qualifies for UK ROCs

Tesco's waste-to-energy derived ethanol biofuel has qualified for Ofgem's Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs).

By Kari Williamson

The ethanol biofuel is used to power combined heat and power generators at two Tesco stores in Dumfries (Scotland) and Cheltenham Hill in inner Manchester.

Tesco's property services team's Head of Environment, Bukky Bird, was quoted by BusinessGreen as saying: “Tesco has festered an important relationship with the supply chain and will look to roll out the fuel to more stores in the near future as we cement becoming a zero carbon retailer by 2050.”
