SMA Canada has released a temperature-hardened version of its Sunny Boy solar inverter. Designed specifically for the Canadian PV market, the new Sunny Boy 5000-US, 6000-US, 7000-US and 8000-US inverters can be used for both residential and commercial applications and features an extended operating temperature range to -40°C.
The solar inverters are certified to UL and CSA standards and feature class-leading efficiencies up to 97%, according to SMA. Their longevity is enhanced via SMA’s OptiCool active temperature management system and cast aluminium enclosure.
These models also feature automatic grid-voltage detection, an integrated DC disconnect and galvanic isolation, and can be used with all types of solar modules.
Jurgen Krehnke, President of SMA Canada, says: “These new inverters include all of the innovative features of the Sunny Boy, but with the ability to be deployed in colder regions. This directly addresses the needs of Canadian solar professionals, who require hardened devices to accommodate projects in even the most difficult climates.”
