12 MW Zerbst II solar plant sold to Berlin investment group

Developer Q-Cells will sell the park to MCG Management Capital Group, and the turnkey handover will take place imminently.

Q-Cells started construction of the solar park on the site of a former military air base near the city of Zerbst in Saxony-Anhalt in mid-May of 2011. Just over six weeks later, the park was connected to the grid by energy supplier E.ON Avacon. As a sub-project of a large solar park, a total of five subsystems have an overall capacity of around 46 MWp.

MCG will add the solar park to its own investment portfolio.

As the general contractor, Q-Cells built the solar park and installed 51,696 crystalline solar modules on an area of 28 hectares. MCG Group has also commissioned Q-Cells for the long-term technical operation, maintenance and repair of the photovoltaic system.

MCG has already acquired four major projects with a total output of 32 MWp from Q-Cells in the last 18 months, as the companies continue to develop their renewable energy partnership. Q-Cells completed the Ahorn solar park with an overall output of 11 MWp on behalf of MCG in June 2010.
