FIM acquires Mynydd Portref wind farm

FIM Services has acquired the 9.35 MW Mynydd Portref wind farm in Wales from Tegni Cymru Cyf (TCC).

By Renewable Energy Focus

The wind farm has an expected annual output of 21.6 GWh.

In September 2008, a planning consent for 11 wind turbines with a tip height of 86 m was granted. Construction is slated for an imminent start and the wind farm is expected to be onstream in early 2012.

FIM Managing Director Richard Crosbie Dawson says: “Mynydd Portref wind farm is a welcome boost to the Welsh Government’s stated target of securing 800 MWs of onshore renewable energy capacity.”

Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK will perform civil and electrical work, and the delivery of Gamesa 850 kW wind turbines is being finalised. As part of the sale, TCC proposed a community payment of £20,000 annually, and rent and access payments to four local landowners.
