Wind could save €23.7bn in fuel costs in 2015

Wind power could avoid €23.7 billion in fuel costs from coal, gas and oil for electricity production in 2015, according to the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA).

The figures, published in connection with the Global Wind Day, are based on data from the International Energy Agency (IEA) and projections from the Global Wind Energy Council’s (GWEC) ‘moderate’ scenario of wind power development reaching 460 GW installed globally by 2015.
