GE Energy and Gehrlicher Solar will develop solar photovoltaic (PV) plants world-wide under a cooperation agreement.

The partnership was announced at the same time as the companies said construction has started on a solar PV plant in Aschheim, Germany.

The 1 MW solar PV plant is being developed by Gehrlicher using solar thin-film PV panels from GE. It is expected to be completed in August this year.

“Combining Gehrlicher’s experience and expertise in developing and implementing utility-scale solar projects worldwide with GE’s leading solar technologies will provide a winning solution for our global customers,” says Stephan Ritter, Leader of GE’s Renewable Energy Business in Europe.

“As the industry expands into new regions around the world, we believe that GE’s solar solutions provide increasing value to the industry.”

Asked for further details on the partnership, GE told Renewable Energy Focus: "We will publish further information about other projects once they are finalised and signed."
