Andritz Hydro wins hydropower station order

A consortium comprising Andritz Hydro Brasil, Andritz Hydro Inepar and IESA Projetos has received an order to supply and install the electromechanical equipment for the Batalha hydropower station from the Brazilian federal utility, Furnas Centrais Elétricas.

Andritz Hydro says that the order value is approximately €44 million.
The scope of supply includes two Kaplan turbines (each with an output of 26.87 MW each), generators, speed governors, digital exciter systems, hydromechanical and electromechanical equipment, cranes, erection, and commissioning. The beginning of commercial operation of the first generating unit is scheduled for May 2011, with the start-up of the second unit will follow one month later.
Batalha hydropower station, which is located on the São Marcos river, will supply electricity for more than 130,000 people, thus contributing to meet Brazil’s growing electricity demand.
